Olof Hallonsten
Olof Hallonsten received his PhD degree in research policy in September 2009; the first ever doctoral degree in the subject awarded in Sweden. His field of study is political sociology of science and science policy, and his thesis topic was the structure and organization of scientific collaboration and the changing role of research infrastructures in the sciences. Olof Hallonsten has been at the RPI since 2004, and started doctoral studies in 2005. His academic background is a bachelor in mathematics and a number of undergraduate courses on various fields such as linguistics and philosophy, all from Lund University. His interests apart from the politics of science and the sociology of scientific collaboration is the changing roles of institutions and organizations in science and the transformation of scientific fields due to changing dynamics in science, especially with focus on laboratories and research infrastructures.
Doctoral dissertation
